Proud Member of Actors Equity SDCF Observership Class of 2018-2019
FALL 2023 It has been a jam packed few years! Since the summer of 2021, I have gone from being part time as the Arts Education Manager at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore, to then full time within the position in less than 6 months. And I'm proud to say that since the beginning of this year, I've been promoted again as the Director of Youth Arts Education.!I'm honored to continue to oversee all things dance and theatre here at the J and am so excited to share all of the JCC arts education progress .
In three years, our dance program has doubled in participants and class offerings, while our theatre program has tripled in numbers. Last week, our theatre programming began their fall production based sessions and we had 95 children actively participating between our two upcoming shows, Frog and Toad Kids and Matilda Jr. I'm so excited to see where our musical theatre training is heading, as we dive this year into also expanding our Children's Theatre Production Company into three definitive avenues: CTPC Kids for 1st and 2nd graders, CTPC Jr for 3rd-6th graders, and CTPC Teen for 7th-10th graders. This is in addition to our new acting classes, expansive dance class offerings, and ever expanding private lesson rosters.
While at times it has been exhausting, this position has brought me such joy and appreciation. I'm thankful for the added and continued knowledge about arts adminstration, leading and managing a core group of artists, and a passion for being a facilitator (as well as creative, as I'm lucky to also direct the mainstage production!). More than that, though, I have just loved getting to create a community that centers around the arts--with our young and beyond passionate participants, as well as with our families who support them.
I can't wait to see what's next--for me and for the JCC--as I work hard to keep this website updated more often!
